Hello, I'm AbiI'm a freelance copywriter, editor and proofreader based in London. I've been writing for a living since 2012, when I swapped a series of office jobs for a laptop, a kitchen table and a slightly alarming amount of tea.
Since then I've written just about everything: website copy for a luxury goods brand in the middle of a rebrand, catalogue descriptions for online and mail-order shops around the world, ghostwritten blogs on SEO, marketing and advertising, hours of audio transcription and hundreds of articles on an eclectic mix of subjects. I'm also one of the staff writers for a pair of online arts, culture and lifestyle magazines, which means I get to go to exhibitions, plays and launches and then have opinions about them in public. |
What I do
- Copywriting - website pages, landing pages, About Us pages, brand stories and email newsletters.
- Product and catalogue descriptions - from a single hero product to a full range of several hundred lines.
- Blogs and articles - under my own name or ghostwritten under yours, researched properly and written to rank without reading like they were written for a robot.
- Editing and copy-editing - making existing writing clearer, tighter and more consistent.
- Proofreading - the final check before something goes to print or goes live.
How I work
I like a clear brief, an honest deadline and a client who tells me what they actually think of a first draft. I write in British English unless you'd rather I didn't, I'm happy to follow a house style (or help you put one together) and I'll always tell you if I think what you've asked for isn't quite what you need. Most of my clients are small businesses, agencies and publishers, and a good number of them have been sending me work for years.

When I'm not working
I cook most evenings, usually something cheap and comforting in a very small kitchen. I'm a member of the Green Party and spend more weekends than I'd like to admit leafleting outside stations. And I'm an unapologetic nerd: science fiction, board games, new technology and anything with a decent plot twist. All of these turn up on the blog sooner or later.
